Portrait or Personal Image - Gina M Silvernale

MEET GINA SILVERNALE

As a local artist living in Rocklin, California, Gina Silvernale considers the Sierra Foothills her personal backyard for adventure and as a canvass for her photography.

Although Gina still appreciates to her roots from Montana, Northern California’s lifestyle fits her comfort level, having access to San Francisco and the High Sierras. Additionally, the characteristics of the local foothills supplies the wide open spaces, a trait that she is accustomed to from life on the family wheat farm in Big Sky Country

Shortly after graduating from high school, Gina spent summers working at Glacier National Park, where she was romanced by the Rocky Mountains and their majestic peaks as well as the endless hiking trails, and the many different faces of tourists and locals. She caught both the outdoor bug and the “shutter bug.” The rest is history and notably illustrated with her images.

San Francisco and the Bay Area was Gina’s home for 10 years where she studied interior design and worked in the field as a decorator. She relocated to the Sacramento region in 1994, where she challenged her creative side with ceramics and photography. Gina possesses an Associates of Science Photography Degree and established Gina Silvernale Photography after graduating in 2003.

Gina’s passion continues through her explorations with the outdoors with camera-in-hand. As a destination for adventure and photography Gina prefers to travel to the outback of National and State and National Forests. After all, her travel motto is, “May you be headed in the opposite direction of the tour with plenty of film.”

As an avid hiker, snow shoer and cyclist, she continues to experiment with new sports, such as kayaking and backpacking. As most photographers do, she rarely travels without her “second set of eyes” — her camera.

Over the past few years, Gina has embraced her love for the outdoors and sharing this passion by working at the nation’s largest co-operative, supporting the outdoor industry with gear, apparel and equipment for consumer use. Gina currently leads and instructs Creative Landscape Photography Field Trips and Hiking Outings with the co-operative’s Outdoor School. She also assists with the Sea Kayaking and Snowshoeing venues in the Sierra Mountain Range. Even outside of her courses, she routinely plans trips with friends on hiking, paddling and snowshoeing adventures.

Gina’s attraction is to gravitate to world geography, foreign cultures and the need to experience but more importantly to capture these unique traits for the viewer to see. With this passion, she anticipates exploring “new worlds” to capture photographs for the future in her business.

In addition to her travels and experiences, Gina captures on film the simplistic beauty that most take for granted. As you stroll through her website, you’ll discover how simple things such as clay pots, sand dunes and even chandeliers are presented as a work of art.

Live vicariously through Gina’s travels and enjoy your trip!

Happy Trails
